Can we just talk about this moment for a second?  I know it doesn’t actually occur in the books, but I feel like it was a great moment in the movie that conveyed such an important characteristic of Hermione’s personality.
In this moment, she KNOWS.  She just knows that Harry is one of the horcruxes.  She looks at Ron to see if it’s occurred to him as well, but he shows no sign of having a clue.  So what does she do?  She continues on doing what needs to be done.
That very trait, that composure, despite the difficulty and the emotions of the situation, is what makes her such a great character to me.  It’s not that she is unfeeling or cold, she simply knows how to keep her feelings in check long enough to get the job done.  That’s huge to me, because I think much of society erroneously thinks of that as primarily a male trait, and here’s this teenage girl, showing more emotional control than many people could ever dream of.
And lest anyone think I’m ignoring her violent outbursts or the fact that she is prone to fierce displays of temper, I’m not (though I actually love that quality about her as well).  What’s such a big deal to me is the fact that at the right moment, when it’s needed the most, she’s got it on lockdown and gets…it…done.
